I had been using my Raspberry Pi 4 in my Ontario greenhouse up until January, when my ISP started blocking all incoming ports. I am on Bell Home Wireless Internet connection since I am located in a rural area of Ontario.
Before they started blocking all incoming connections, I was able to login to the Hydrosys4 system, view pics, video, real time data and to look at all historical data. It worked very, very well and seldom went down or lost connection. Even if we had a power failure, the system would log back in automatically and I would have remote access very quickly.
It is only recently that my ISP actually admitted to blocking ports. Before that, I literally spend days on the phone with Bell to try and resolve the issue.
So, now that I know that opening a port is no longer a possibility, does anyone know a way for me to access my Hydrosys4 system remotely? Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. I am investigating any web based applications that might be able to provide an outbound connection to a cloud based server, but I'm unsure how I could send instructions down to the Hydrosys system or to view the camera for example.
Please let me know if anyone has any thoughts. I really want to use all of the amazing tools and functionality of the Hydrosys4 system but without remote access I am severely limited on this platform.
Please let me know any thoughts and thank you!
Paul
Hi!
I think ISP block unused IP and ports, or use only necessary for them. Yesterday i tried to connect from other network but it doesn't worked. Today I call to my ISP and he enabled my raspberry IP and port, now Hydrosys working exellent. ISP advidce "If you have default password please change it" :)
So good luck
