Hi guys,
I am totally thrilled with the system that Angelo has made available. Thanks for that!
However, I have a strange problem with the SW 3.29d.
I use HATV10 with the Raspberry to water my two geodomes and open the windows with it.
With SW 3.27b from 20.2.21 this worked very well.
Since I updated to the newer 3.29d, the Raspberry hangs after several hours.
Can anyone else observe something similar?
One Raspberry is a very old one with Wlan via USB dongle (will soon be exchanged for RB4) +HAT V10, the other is a RB 3+ with HAT V10.
Best regards from Styria
The dome was a fun project because I had leftover roof battens lying around in the winter. :)
Then we built another dome for a friend and both got a Raspberry with the V10 HAT and your great software which will now open the windows for us and later do the watering and fertilizing.
The black/white tube contains the temperature sensor.
Since splitting the power supply, both controllers run without problems
without problems, even at 52°C in the box, WOW!
Soon a rain sensor and a wind sensor must be installed and the irrigation system must be put into operation then everything is perfect,
Best regards
Reini
First of all, let me tell you that the dome looks fantastic (but also the garden for what I see in the picture) I suppose the upper part is the windows, I'm curious to understand how it works.
Anyway back to the power supply, it was a good idea to separate the power going to the motors from the supply to the raspberry. If motor is not so small, it can create spikes on start and stop which could not be compensated, so they create problem to the raspberry. In the board I included several capacitors to smooth the spikes but they work within certain ranges.
Anyway let's see in few days, better keep an eye on it :).
After I loaded SW 3.29f onto the PB and changed the power supply, the system has been running perfectly again for 2 days.
The cause was the PC power supply with 12V and 5V. Now the power supply of the RB is separate with a 5V power supply and the PC power supply takes over the motors.
Thanks Angelo,
Best regards, Reini
I use a gamer PC power supply with 500W power. When checking the voltages at the power supply, I noticed that the 5V briefly dropped to 4.78V when the motor at the dome lid opened. I can't say for sure whether the multimeter is too slow. I replaced the 5V with a separate power supply (5V 3Amp), plugged into the HATv10. I think that's it and will report tomorrow if desired.
Thanks for the tip, I now also think that there is a problem with the power supply - perhaps because of too high a temperature in the dome. The system ran without problems until a few days ago, when the heat came.
The log file shows:
09:41:20 hydrosys4.autowateringmod - INFO Starting Autowatering Evaluation , then no more records until reboot.
The hbridge could still be closed by hand at about 11:30, but the relay was stuck on.
I will check whether Netzeil is working properly.
ok no problem, you can retry with the new release when you are convenient.
The lines of question marks or other symbols are normally due to power interruption. In case you can have a look at the power supply to see if the connections are ok.
Hello Angelo,
Unfortunately I have just reset a system to SW 3.27b and all recordings are deleted.
When I looked at these log files yesterday, I noticed that there were 2-3 lines of question marks in the text at the time of the crash.
I noticed that the third time I manually control the hbridge, the system shuts down.
I will try to restore a system log,
Thank you very much
Cheers,
Reini
Hi There,
From release 3.27b to release 3.29d/f there have been several changes, there was a new release of Raspbian, then I've made several changes to the Automation procedure and watering plan procedure, not big changes, but they could have an impact.
Did you notice any particular event which set the hydrosys4 off?
Just for a quick investigation, it would be useful if you can take logs of the day when the problem happen. Go to hardwaresetting and click on "current log file", a link to a file will appear where you can download the file. If you can send it, I can try to see if there is some clue of what is happening.
Cheers,
Angelo
