What about controlling your irrigation system according to the soil moisture levels, always giving the right amount of water for healthy and happy plants?
Maybe I went a little too marketing in the above sentence, anyway we can make it close to reality;
I've made a video for the setup of the watering automation and the soil moisture sensors.
It's quite a little long but hope it might be interesting:
Thank you Angelo for the quick response
Stay safe
Good day to you.
Well this types of sensors have analog output. As the raspberry does not have any analog input then it is required to have a chip that will make the conversion (ADC).
My Software is compatible with the MCP3008 chip, which can be easily found in electronics shop. If you go to the "hardware" page of my website, you can see how to connect the chip to the raspberry pins. The automation hat board uses it.
Right not I'm developing a "digital sensor" which can be directly connected to the raspberry PI. But still takes some time before it reaches my target level of reliability.
Regards,
Angelo
Good Day Angelo
How can i connect the Capacitive soil moisture sensor v1.2 if i dont have the HAT in your video ?
Than you
