I trying to hook up a soil moisture sensor via slowwire tasmota mqtt

all I ever get is a reading of -1

I tried the sensor on an Arduino uno, works good get a reading that changes when touch or place in water

tried on the esp8266 loaded slowwire via arduino ide all is well

tasmota _1% I've got to be missing something.
