The Hydrosys plant nursery irrigation system is up and running. I have set up 20 different irrigation lines but will probably add a couple more soon. It is a stand alone system powered by a battery connected to a solar panel. Wiring is a bit messy. The switches are connected so that individual water lines can be manually switched if need be. It is connected to a wifi network and uses the weather API to control watering period. And I must say, Angelo's work on Hydrosys and the fact that he makes it freely available on the internet is simply amazing. The nursery where I installed the Hydrosys system in Far north Queensland, Australia, is owned by my friend of Italian heritage. He was so happy when I told him that the developer of the software is from Italy. There is a lot of positive Karma floating around. Thanks again Angelo from both me and Phillipo!

that looks a cool setup not far from mine. ours nursery is off grid so all 12v systems with 4 hydrosys running the 3 polys.
Yes i have had a similar problem as well, i painted mine black and all my tanks as well and run a 10 micron on the main poly. we use rain water collection so the tanks even though have screens they scum up and clog the strainers in the valves and mist system the mist head would need cleaning a lot
after making the changes its been more of a check to see how they are doing and been fine now.
Great to hear that, good job. Actually I had similar issue with the valves because of algae build up. The body of the valve is white plastic, so I suppose it lets the sunlight pass through and make the algae grow. After I put the valves in a black plastic box the problem disappeared.
It's been over a year now so time for an update......The irrigation system has worked really well for over a year now. The only trouble has been with the valves playing up occasionally due to slime build up. I went with cheap valves from China and there are probably better options. The nursery owner wanted the irrigation timing to be the same each day so I turned off the weather API function. As rain is so patchy in that area so even if the weather report expects so much rain in that town, the plant nursery may remain dry. It's easy for him to just turn off the irrigation pump for a few days when there has been sufficient rain at the nursery.
The solar system working the raspberry pi zero and the valves has been great and no additional power source or mains charging of the single 12v car battery powering the system has been necessary. 🙂🏝️
Hello there from the other side of the world!
Thanks for sharing, this post puts a big smile on my face.
Congrats for your system, it's the biggest I've seen so far, and it is also solar powered, great job!
