Guys dont buy the cheap relays if you plan some advanced projects with heavy use of relays. Ive spend lots of time on working on the normal blue ones and i recently bought 8 SSR relays and they work perfect.
The blue ones cost almost the same and they tend to fail a lot. The (ssr) Solid State Relays are much better. they work for much longer periods and also almost never fail.
In fact im using only 230 volts. growlights, and foggers as well as 18v fan for pushing the stream of fog into the roots. the relays are connected to plugs so i can change and disconnect everything whenever i want.
i used to grow weed i this setup for medicinal purposes but now i grow only lettuce, and basil etc.
atm, im having a problem with changing the timetrigger. even when i reset it it doesnt work when changing settings. But when it finally starts it works well.
im also fighting with humidity problems at the top of the plants. :P
Which type of load you have in your application?
Yes also from what i know they might draw a bit more electricity.
but otherwise they are much better.
Totally agree about the reliability.
One think to pay attention with the SSR is the Current and voltage going to the load.
While the standard relays are just switches, for the SSR there might be type supporting only AC or DC or both and different types of voltages. So before buying better to pay attention to this points.
As understood, the cheapest types with the Omron chips only support 220v AC, with Max 2A load.
i do to, but mostly concern about reliability - i have thousands of dollars in trees that i need to protect. I will look into these units right away - they are available on ebay.
Thanks
I also hate that click noise :)
Also they dont make the click noise :P
which ones are you buying? could you post a link?
