It's certainly unfortunate that this project seems dead. After a few years of planning (but mostly procrastinating), I've just been successful getting a Hydrosys system set up to water my wife's plants around the back patio at our house. I'm using one of the Hats that Angelo sold me a few years ago. I'm still trying to figure out the watering schedule and automatic assistance using a Capacitive moisture sensor on an ESP8266 and MQTT back to the Pi. I'm not sure if just after being successful-ish that I should switch over to the SIP software. I'd like to see Hydrosys succeed.
For those of you who have switched to SIP, what is your opinion between the two (excluding support, obviously).
I have decided to stay on Hydrosys until further, as I have a well functioning system set up all ready. Its concerning that "the child is now an orphan", but thats the way it is.
I would expect that you can get some help on the forum, but when it comes down to Python changes etc, I reckon we are on our own.
I am using Angelo's extension boards for my digital capacitive moisture sensors, so I don't have an experience with the ESP8266.. Does anobody else have some to share on that topic?
Much the same here, I have 2 systems running, one for lawn and one for gardens at second house, this runs on solar and POE for the Pi. Both work fine though I've lost the temperature readings. When they fail I'll look at either SP or design my own system using Shelly relays with an add on hat for temperature/ humidity and rain sensor readings. These have a really good app with remote access and scheduling.
Does anyone know where Angelo is? and Is he ok? Ive posted questions a few times and always had a responce within a day or two. Great project, hope it continues to evolve.
This project has a multitude of features, but I really only used the irrigation features. SIP is focused on irrigation, so it was a better fit for me and it was also easier for me to contribute new features.

I'd like to but I'm in the same position of lars.brondum, just a user without coding expertise...

I agree it would be a pity to see Angelo's great work go into oblivion..
However, I'm just a user without any coding skills, so I'm not sure how I can contribute..
