I haven't worked on an open source project before but what you're saying sounds reasonable. Can we just do a fork from the current github project?
It sounds to me like the author is MIA since we have heard nothing, neither a permission to continue or a denial, so it may be left up to us. But regardless we are going to need coders and someone to maintain the project.
I'd say yes, if you want to put up another post for contributors required that would be a start.
This is such a great project it deservies to continue, but it looks like it has been dormant for awhile and I think there are still some outstanding issues, and it could be expanded. I'd also like to port it to some other platforms so its not restricted to raspi.
I'm a software dev and would consider putting some time into it, although I don't know python, I mainly use c#. Are there any other people who would consider contributing?
And to the author, would it be possible to get some doco on the source, like a project outline, what each of the modules do and how it all works? That would make it easier to continue.
Could we at least get a reply from the author with thoughts on this?
I agree, this is such a feature rich project that it would be a pity to see it fold considering the amount of work that has been put into it so far.
In order for this project to continue I think it would require about half a dozen contributor (not only for coding but also for testing and documentation). I also think introducing a plugin system around an event handler like, for example, MQTT would make it very open and flexible for contributions.
If the owner (Angelo?) does not have any/much time for the project any more/at the moment may be they would consider spending a little time to coordinate the work?
I know a little Python but I have not really dug into the code much: I would however be willing to contribute.
Would it make sense to start another discussion with a title like "Contributors required" or does the fact that there are no further responses speak for itself?

Thanks.
