In case you want to setup more that one system under the same WiFi network, it is required to change the hydrosys4 default IP address in the way that the different systems do not have conflicting IP address.
To change the hydrosys4 IP address, go to "Network" click "Advanced Setting" button and change the IP address. You should change only the last IP address number, it is suggested to keep this number in the range between 100 and 200 (e.g 192.168.1.162)
It is preferable to make this operation when the the System is not yet connected to the WiFi network.
Once you click submit, the IP address will change and the connection with system will be interrupted. Type the new address in the webbrowser and you should be able to connect again. Remember the new IP address will be the default address for the future system access.
lol :)
you can just create a new post under this section, like for example "multiple Systems in the same LAN network".
good, may I ask what change did you make to the dhcpcd.conf file, maybe somebody else would find it useful in the future reading this post.
Hello, thank you for getting back to me. I have managed to get it up and running. Added the ssh file to the boot folder and hunted and found the password. I have edited the dhcpcd.conf file and I can see 3 pis all playing nice now. I think I needed a bit more time hunting the forum 😁 but the documentation and forum is fantastic
The Hydrosys4 software does not set the IP address for the LAN, so in principle, the different RPI should get their IP address from the DHCP server.
The SSH is enabled, Username: pi , Password: hydrosys4password.
I suggest to change the hostname of the RPI, you can go to network page, advanced setting.
In the Network page you can also check the IP address assigned to the device.
not shore if this is the right thread but i have been having ip conflicts with my 2 hydrosys pis. they seem to have the same ips on a ethernet cable setup. i am using pi zeros non wifi version. (as the networks are split in to 3 areas and there is no wifi on the controlled network, wifi aps are on business and public )
can the hs4 be ssh,ed? if so is there a default username and password? can i set static ips.
or do i need to use expert mode and build the hs4 via package rather than plug and play install
Well, you made it right with SW installation for expert users. I did not implement a simpler way to change the port.
Today I made a software update and followed the procedure described at About - Software info.
Because I wanted the router port to be mofied as well I used "Step by step Installation (for expert users):".The software installation went smoothly and after I confirmed IP adress I changed the default port. Finally a system reboot was needed. The system restarted as expected running Release 3.22c on IP adress 192.168.1.172 port:5170.
This is a way to change the default port settings but I'm afraid it needs to be repeated every time a software update is to be installed.
I will see how both systems work together to control the sprinklers in my garden and let you know if there is a problem.
In case of questions please ask.
I have installed my second hydrosys4 system using the modified IP address. I make use of the hydrosys4 system mainly for watering my garden. Installing a second system was more easy (and cheaper) than bringing the water from the front of my house to the back. My final goal is to control in total 11 sprinklers. Water pressure makes it necessary to split up the sprinklers. In total 5 zones.
Both systems work very nice, compliments for the software design. Question I do have using 2 systems on 1 external IP address. It will probably give me a conflict accessing it from an external location. Can I change the port as simple as the IP address ?
